
New edition of the set in Czech translation of books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo



To mark the 165th anniversary of Dr. José Rizal’s birth and the 130th anniversary of his martyrdom, our literary and arts club, in collaboration with the publishing house Continual Progress, has prepared a collection of Rizal’s works: Noli Me Tangere, its loose sequel El Filibusterismo, and a collection of letters and memoirs titled Mi Último Adiós.

29 December 2025 , Prague: The commemoration of the 129th anniversary of the martyrdom of Rizal is made more significant with the hand over by Mr. Dušan Šafr Ospalík, Chairman of the José Rizal Literary and Art Club of a painting entitled Rizal in Room No. 12 of the Krebs Hotel by artist Mr. Emilio Juan Fernandez.
Mr. Ospalik also presented to Ambassador Eduardo Meñez a copy of the Czech translation of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere entitled “Nedotýkej se mě, published by Continual Progress publishing house and illustrated by Mr Emilio Fernandez.

Author of illustrations for the first Czech translation of the novels Noli Me Tangere (1st edition 2023, 2nd edition 2025) and El Filibusterismo (1st edition 2026), Emilio Juan Fernandez, painted a picture of Dr. José Rizal, who visited his friend Ferdinand Blumentritt in Litoměřice from May 13 to 16, 1887. The painting depicts Dr. José Rizal in room 12 of the Krebs Hotel with a book in his hand, looking out onto Litoměřice Square. The old town hall and All Saints Church can be seen in the background.
